Project Dermune CH

Dermune C.H. is an hemoderivated product obtained from dogs for to be employed in immunologically mediated diseases as psoriasis, allergic dermatitis and plane liquen. Within pre-clinical studies it has been employed in parenteral form. The experiences have been conducted during ten years of applications of the cream in patients with psoriasis, allergic dermatitis and plane liquen in the specialized dermatological hospital ¨Guillermo Fernandez Hernandez Baquero¨ of the Cuban Ministry of Health.

The product is obtained through the inflammatory stimulus of the subcutaneous tissue of dogs. Pharmacological studies also have been performed, on toxicity upon a unique doses, acute toxicity upon repeated doses, sub-chronic toxicity and primary irritation in skin and mucous.

Anti-tumor studies have been conducted in the l1210 tumor of the mice and in the transmisible venereal tumor with good results.

The Cuban Center of Research and Development of Medical Products, extended a recommendation letter for the development of DERMUNE C.H. which was submitted to the Director of Science and Technology of the Cuban Ministry of Health.

The more fruitful work has been the treatment with cream to patients of the mentioned hospital, during ten years, since the low cost and the easiness of the obtention of the basic components of the product. In spite of these results the process for the medical registering has been very slow. The product to be employed in animals has been also delayed because, due to the lack of resources, the one used in humans has received priority.

Is our main interest with this project, to propose cooperative development and characterization of this product directed, in a first stage, to veterinary applications in immunomediated diseases.

Main Objectives

  1. Obtention of the total product on skin dogs and standarization of the process for the subsequent obtention of the injectable immunological preparates.
  2. To perform clinical trials for the confirmation of the healing action of the products.

Plan of Activities

Objective 1

  1. Obtention of the total product from the subcutaneous tissue of experimental dogs.
  2. Ultracentrifugation of total the product.
  3. Elimination of the deposit.
  4. Bacteriological filtration of the residual product.
  5. Ultrafiltration of the resulting substance by membranes of the following types: 50,000, 30,000, 20,000, 10,000,...etc. NMWC.
  6. Fillement, preservation, refrigeration and liophilization of the product.
  7. Proteins and polipeptides characterization.
  8. Standarization of the process.

Task 2

Applications of the preparates in dogs affected by atopic dermatitis, chronic eczema, contact dermatitis,etc.. The diagnostic criteria for the diseases, before and after treatment, will be based on the clinic and laboratory diagnosis performed by specialized technicians.
